Resumo O objetivo do presente estudo é avaliar os efeitos das nanopartículas de selênio no crescimento, hematologia e digestibilidade dos nutrientes de alevinos de Labeo rohita. Os alevinos foram alimentados com sete dietas isocalóricas à base de farinha de girassol suplementada com diferentes concentrações de nanopartículas, nomeando T1 a T7 (0, 0,5, 1, 1,5, 2, 2,5 e 3 mg / kg), com 5% do peso corporal úmido enquanto o óxido crômico foi usado como um marcador indigesto. Após a experimentação por 90 dias, o grupo tratado com T3 (nível 1mg / kg -1Se-nano) mostrou o melhor resultado em parâmetros hematológicos (WBC’s 7,97 × 103mm-3, RBC’s 2,98 × 106mm-3 e contagem de plaquetas 67), digestibilidade dos nutrientes (proteína bruta: 74%, extrato de éter: 76%, energia bruta: 70%) e desempenho de crescimento (ganho de peso 13,24 g, ganho de peso % 198, taxa de conversão alimentar 1,5, taxa de sobrevivência 100%) em comparação com os outros grupos de tratamento. As taxas de crescimento específicas foram encontradas significativamente mais altas em T5 do que em outros grupos. O presente estudo indicou efeito positivo de 1 mg / kg de nanopartículas de Se no avanço do crescimento, parâmetros hematológicos e digestibilidade de nutrientes de alevinos de L. rohita.

Abstract The aim of the present study is to assess the effects of selenium nanoparticles on the growth, hematology and nutrients digestibility of Labeorohita fingerlings. Fingerlings were fed with seven isocaloric sunflower meal-based diet supplemented with different concentrations of nanoparticles naming T1 to T7 (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 mg/kg), with 5% wet body weight while chromic oxide was used as an indigestible marker. After experimentation for 90 days T3 treated group (1mg/kg -1Se-nano level) showed the best result in hematological parameters (WBC’s 7.97 ×103mm-3, RBC’s 2.98 ×106 mm-3 and Platelet count 67), nutrient digestibility (crude protein: 74%, ether extract: 76%, gross energy: 70%) and growth performance (weight gain 13.24 g, weight gain% 198, feed conversion ratio 1.5, survival rate 100%) as compared to the other treatment groups. Specific growth rates were found significantly higher in T5 than in other groups. The present study indicated positive effect of 1 mg/kg Se-nanoparticles on growth advancement, hematological parameters, and nutrients digestibility of L. rohita fingerlings.

ABSTRACT ASTM Mar-M247 is one of the superalloys used to manufacture gas turbine blades in power stations. This paper studies the microstructure across welded joints of a turbine blade made of a high-strength material (Mar-M247 alloy) employing AWS ERNiCrMo-3 as a filler alloy. This process was carried out using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). The dendritic and interdendritic structures were observed in the fusion zone. The results also showed the presence of epitaxial growth at the interface between the weld metal and the base alloy without solidification cracks. Al and Co concentrations gradually decrease towards the weld metal zone during the solidification process, while Cr content increases towards the fusion zone. Vickers hardness revealed that the hardness in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) is higher than that of the base metal and the weld metal zone, the average in the HAZ is 340HV, while in the base metal and the fusion zone is 322HV, 284HV respectively. Coarse grains in the HAZ were found with an agglomeration of carbides at the grain boundaries due to the input heat of the welding process.

Abstract The goal of this study is to review the overall prevalence, burden, and distribution of the dengue disease in Pakistan from 2000 to 2019. Literature was searched using different search engines like Google scholar, PubMed, etc. providing the keywords “Dengue disease/infection, Dengue virus, DENV, DF/DHF/ DSS Pakistan”. All the published research papers/reports on the dengue virus over the period 2000 to 2019 were studied and selected data were summarized using MS Excel for windows such as total cases, age wise, gender, DENV serotype distribution, total DHF, and DSS patients. The literature providing insufficient data was excluded. The total number of cases reported during 2000-19 were 201,269. The maximum number of cases during the mentioned literature survey period was reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) (23.3%) followed by Punjab (3.8%) and Sindh (1.9%). The majority of dengue-infected cases were reported as Dengue fever (74.4%) followed by DHF (24.1%) and DSS (1.5%). Overall the deaths during the mentioned literature survey were 1082, of which the maximum mortalities were reported from KP (N=248) followed by Punjab (N=220). DENV remains a major public health problem in Pakistan and seems to remain endemic for a long time. The total prevalence of dengue infection is increased accordingly with time from 2000 to 2019. Moreover, all the four serotypes exist in Pakistan with increased mortalities.

Resumo A literatura foi examinada através de diferentes mecanismos de pesquisa, como Google Acadêmico, PubMed, etc., fornecendo as palavras-chave “Dengue disease/infection, Dengue virus, DENV, DF/DHF/ DSS Pakistan”. Todos os trabalhos/relatórios de pesquisa publicados sobre o vírus da dengue no período de 2000 a 2019 foram analisados e os dados selecionados foram coletados e resumidos usando o MS Excel para janelas como total de casos, idade, sexo, distribuição de sorotipos, total de DHF e pacientes com DSS. A literatura que forneceu dados insuficientes foi excluída. O número total de casos notificados de 2000 a 2019 foi de 201.269. O número máximo de casos durante o período de levantamento da literatura mencionado foi relatado em KP (23,3%), seguido por Punjab (3,8%) e Sindh (1,9%). A maioria dos casos de infecção por dengue foi relatada como Dengue (74,4%), seguida por FHD (24,1%) e DSS (1,5%). No geral, as mortes durante a pesquisa de literatura mencionada foram 1.082, das quais as morbidades máximas foram relatadas em KP (248), seguidas por Punjab, com um total de 220 mortes. O DENV continua sendo um grande problema de saúde pública no Paquistão e é considerado endêmico agora e provavelmente permanecerá por muito tempo. A prevalência total de infecção por dengue foi aumentada conforme a pesquisa de literatura publicada entre 2000 e 2019. A mortalidade por DENV também aumentou. Todos os 4 sorotipos, bem como em várias formas, existem no Paquistão.

RESUMEN Introducción y objetivos: La angiografía por tomografía computarizada (angio-TC) es el estándar para medir el anillo aórtico en pacientes tratados mediante implante percutáneo de válvula aórtica (TAVI), aunque en algunos casos podría no ser factible. Debería evaluarse la precisión de las medición del anillo aórtico angiográfica (AAA) durante el TAVI como alternativa para elegir el tamaño correcto de la válvula cardiaca percutánea. Por ello, investigamos la correlación entre las mediciones angiográficas y por angio-TC para elegir el tamaño adecuado de la válvula en pacientes que reciben un TAVI. Métodos: Se incluyeron pacientes de TAVI con prótesis de balón expandible y angio-TC de alta calidad. Las mediciones del AAA se obtuvieron de la angiografía de la raíz aórtica en proyección de 3 cúspides. Se comparó la distancia angiográfica entre la cúspide izquierda y no coronariana con las mediciones de angio-TC. Se evaluaron la prueba diagnóstica y la correlación entre las medidas angiográficas y de angio-TC, así como la eficacia (éxito técnico, posición correcta y desempeño intencionado) y la seguridad (múltiples válvulas, embolización, implante de marcapasos e insuficiencia valvular moderada o mayor) definida por VARC-3. Resultados: Para válvulas con balón expandible de 23 mm, la distancia en la aortografía tuvo una correlación de 0,528 (p < 0,01) comparada con las mediciones de angio-TC; para las de 26 mm, la correlación fue de 0,451 (< 0,01), y para las de 29 mm fue de 0,579 (< 0,01). No hubo diferencia en cuanto a eficacia (94,2 frente a 96,0%; p = 0,60) y seguridad (90,9 frente a 91,9%; p = 0,84) entre casos con medidas concordantes y discordantes. Conclusiones: Las mediciones del AAA mostraron un moderado valor de prueba diagnóstica y de correlación Spearman en comparación con la angio-TC para elegir el tamaño de la válvula cardiaca percutánea. Esta estrategia podría permitir un TAVI en situaciones en que la angio-TC no esté disponible.

ABSTRACT Introduction and objectives: Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) has become the gold standard to measure the size of the aortic annulus and better select the size of transcatheter heart valves (THV) in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). However, in selected cases, CCTA may not be feasible. Angiographic aortic annulus (AAA) measurements during TAVI may be an alternative and should be evaluated for precision regarding the proper selection of THV sizes. We sought to investigate the correlation between AAA and CCTA measurements for the proper selection of balloon-expandable valve (BEV) sizes in patients undergoing TAVI. Methods: Patients undergoing TAVI with BEV and high-quality CCTA were included. AAA measurements were obtained in the standard 3-cusp view after aortic root aortography. Angiographic distance between non- and left coronary cusps were compared to CCTA annulus measurements. Endpoints were diagnostic tests and correlations between angiographic and CCTA measurements, and the composite endpoint of the VARC-3-defined efficacy (technical success, correct position, and intended performance), and safety profile (multiple valves, valve embolization, pacemaker implantation, and more than moderate valvular regurgitation). Results: Regarding the Sapien family of THV, aortography-based distance measurements showed a correlation of 0.528 (P <.01), 0.451 (P <.01), and 0.579 (P <.01) for 23 mm, 26 mm, and 29 mm valves with CCTA-based distance measurements. No difference was seen regarding the VARC-3-defined efficacy (94.2% vs 96.0%; P =.60) and safety profile (90.9% vs 91.9%; P =.84) among cases showing discordant and concordant pairs of measurements. Conclusions: AAA measurement showed a moderate diagnostic test and Spearman's correlation coefficient compared to CCTA-based annulus assessment for perioperative THV size selection. This strategy could potentially enable TAVI in patients in whom access to preoperative CCTA is not available.

SUMMARY: This study evaluated the effects of ethnicity, sex, and age on the linear dimensions of the sella turcica (ST) and the pneumatization patterns of the sphenoid sinus (SS). In this cross-sectional retrospective study, we examined digitally standardized computed tomography scans of 100 Jordanians. These study participants comprised 50 men and 50 women, and their age ranged from 23 years to 77 years. We assessed linear ST dimensions and SS pneumatization patterns and correlated this data to age and sex. Furthermore, we compared the data with different ethnic groups from previous studies. The mean (standard deviation [SD]) length, diameter, width, and depth of the ST were 9.98 (1.89) mm, 12.45 (2) mm, 11.96 (1.76) mm, and 8.38 (1.63) mm, respectively. The mean (SD) interclinoid diameter was 8.84 (2.03) mm. These measurements were not significantly correlated with sex or age. With regards to pneumatization patterns of the sphenoid sinus, the conchal type was observed in 2 % of the study participants. Presellar involvement was observed in 30 % of the patients. The sellar and postsellar type was observed in 66 % and 2 % of patients, respectively. In our study, ST measurements did not differ significantly between the sexes. Pneumatization patterns of the SS differed from the patterns reported for other races. The findings of this study could assist neurosurgeons, orthodontists, and forensic medical investigators in diagnosing and planning treatment for pituitary gland pathologies.

RESUMEN: Este estudio evaluó los efectos de la etnia, el sexo y la edad sobre las dimensiones lineales de la silla turca y los patrones de neumatización del seno esfenoidal (SE). En este estudio retrospectivo transversal, examinamos tomografías computarizadas estandarizadas digitalmente de 100 jordanos. Los participantes del estudio comprendían 50 hombres y 50 mujeres entre los 23 y los 77 años de edad. Evaluamos las dimensiones lineales del SE y los patrones de neumatización del SE y correlacionamos estos datos con la edad y el sexo. Además, comparamos los datos con diferentes grupos étnicos de estudios previos. La media (desviación estándar) de la longitud, el diámetro, el ancho y la profundidad del SE fueron 9,98 (1,89) mm, 12,45 (2) mm, 11,96 (1,76) mm y 8,38 (1,63) mm, respectivamente. El diámetro interclinoideo medio era de 8,84 (2,03) mm. Estas medidas no se correlacionaron significativamente con el sexo o la edad. Con respecto a los patrones de neumatización del seno esfenoidal, el tipo conchal se observó en el 2 % de los participantes del estudio. Se observó afectación preselar en el 30 % de los pacientes. El tipo selar y postsillar se observó en el 66 % y el 2 % de los pacientes, respectivamente. En nuestro estudio, las medidas del SE no difirieron significativamente entre los sexos. Los patrones de neumatización de la silla turca diferían de los patrones informados para otras razas. Los hallazgos de este estudio podrían ayudar a los neurocirujanos, ortodoncistas e investigadores médicos forenses en el diagnóstico y el tratamiento de las patologías de la hipófisis.

Abstract This study compared the calibration model performance of reflectance to absorbance transformation spectra combined with pre-processing spectra to find the best model to predict white rice flour adulteration in brown rice flour using the visible and near-infrared spectrometer. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) and principal component regression (PCR) were compared using reflectance, Kubelka-Munk (KM), and Log(1/R) spectra. Area normalization (AN) and Savitsky-smoothing Golay's (SGS) were pre-processing methods. The sample was white rice flour mixed with brown rice flour at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. Reflectance spectra outperformed KM and log (1/R) spectra in this study. Reflectance spectra provided the best model for PLSR and PCR. Pre-processed SGS spectra were best for PLSR, while raw reflectance spectra were best for PCR. PLSR and PCR both had an R2 of prediction of 0.96, while the overall average R2 of prediction favors PLSR over PCR. The present study led to the discovery of a simple novel method for developing adulteration flour and showed that a visible near-infrared spectrometer combined with PLSR, or PCR, could predict white rice flour adulteration in brown rice flour.

Abstract The highly selective, sensitive, and quick interference green synthesis-based sensing of possible milk adulterants i.e., salicylic acid has been reported here. Salicylic acid interacts with nanoparticles through strong bonding interactions, hence resulting in an interruption within the formation of selenium nanoparticles which is confirmed by UV-VIS spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and x-ray diffraction. This interaction in the synthesis of nanoparticles resulted in transmittance wavelength that decrease with the increasing amount of salicylic acid, showing strong binding of selenium nanoparticles with adulterant thereby permitting in-situ fast detection of salicylic acid from milk having a limit of detection at 10-3 mol and linear coefficient correlation of 0.9907.

This paper investigated how casting affects ASTM ZA-27 alloy's tribological performance in dry and lubricated conditions. To this end, varying contact loads and sliding speeds were applied to tribological tests. The ZA-27 alloy was produced using gravity die casting (GDC) and new rheo-casting (NRC) methods. The results showed that the microstructure of GDC ZA-27 alloy is dendritic containing α and η phases. While the NRC alloy microstructure demonstrates a semi-globular structure of fine equiaxed α phase bordered by eutectoid α and η. The NRC alloy achieved an improvement in tensile, hardness, and elongation properties by almost 15%, 20%, and 25%, respectively. Regarding tribological properties, the NRC alloy achieved an enhancement in tribo-behavior by lowering the coefficient of friction (COF) to about 67% than the GDC alloy. Further, the results showed that the wear rate recorded an increment with applied load for both GDC and NRC alloys. Though, the results showed that the wear rate with NRC alloy was lower compared to the GDC alloy with about 84% at 160N normal load. The worn surfaces of NRC alloys were characterized by smooth and shallow wear grooves. While the GDC alloy worn surfaces were rougher and experience deeper grooves and damage.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Objective: To investigate the potential beneficial effects of resveratrol (RVT) against ischemia-reperfusion injury of myocardial tissue during surgical treatment of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. Methods: Four groups were established — control, ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), sham (I/R+solvent/dimethyl sulfoxide [DMSO]), and I/R+RVT. Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm model was used as the experimental protocol. Results: In the I/R and I/R+DMSO groups, malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in myocardial tissue were found to be significantly increased compared to the control group. The MDA level in myocardial tissue was significantly decreased in the I/ R+RVT group compared to the I/R group. In I/R and I/R+DMSO groups, glutathione peroxidase (GSH) levels in myocardial tissue were found to be significantly decreased compared to the control group. The GSH level in the myocardial tissue was significantly increased in the I/R+RVT group compared to the I/R group. In the light microscope, isotropic and anisotropic band disorganized atypical cardiomyocytes in the I/R group and degenerative cardiomyocytes and edematous areas in the I/R+DMSO group were observed. Degenerative cardiomyocytes and edematous areas were decreased in the I/R+RVT group. When heart tissue sections incubated with cleaved caspase-3 primary antibodies were examined under the light microscope, apoptotic cardiomyocytes were present in I/R and I/R+DMSO groups. A decrease in the number of apoptotic cardiomyocytes was observed in the I/R+RVT group. Conclusion: The findings of the present study indicate that RVT exhibits protective effects against ischemia-reperfusion injury occurring in the myocardium as a distant organ as a result of abdominal aorta clamping.

ABSTRACT Aspergillus fumigatus is a respiratory pathogen, which has the potential to cause brooder pneumonia in poultry chicks and aspergillosis in birds and farmers. Frequent and irrational use of antifungals has led to the development of resistance in the fungal species. The present study aimed to evaluate the antifungal activity of essential oils (EOs) from four different spices against multi-drug resistant (MDR) A. fumigatus isolated from 40 poultry feed samples. Twenty fungal isolates were identified to be A. fumigatus based on the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics, which were confirmed by targeting and amplifying the species-specific rodA gene (313 bp). Five (5/20) isolates were found to be MDR by the disk diffusion method. EOs were tested as an alternative strategy for 5 MDR isolates of A. fumigatus. Clove EO provided better activity by 6 log10 reduction for 30-90 min exposure as compared to other EOs, therefore, shortlisted for well-diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method. Clove EO provided promising results as compared to fluconazole, amphotericin B, ketoconazole, nystatin and voriconazole as its mean ZOI (39.6 ± 6.34) were better than all other commercial antifungals (p< 0.001). Mean MIC was reported to be 0.195 ± 0.11 µl/ml. Safety testing of the EO produced 74-82% cell viability for the range of 0.390 - 0.097 µl/ml as compared to DMSO. Findings of the present study highlight that clove EO can be source of a good therapeutic agent for infections of MDR isolates of A. fumigatus.

RESUMO Aspergillus fumigatus é um patógeno respiratório, que tem o potencial de causar pneumonia incubadora em pintos e aspergilose em aves e criadores. O uso frequente e irracional de antifúngicos tem levado ao desenvolvimento de resistência nas espécies fúngicas. O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a atividade antifúngica de óleos essenciais (OEs) de quatro diferentes especiarias contra A. fumigatus multirresistente (MDR) isolado de 40 amostras de ração de aves. Vinte isolados fúngicos foram identificados como A. fumigatus com base nas características macroscópicas e microscópicas, que foram confirmadas pelo direcionamento e amplificação do gene rodA espécie-específico (313 pb). Cinco (5/20) isolados foram considerados MDR pelo método de difusão em disco. OEs foram testados como uma estratégia alternativa para 5 isolados MDR de A. fumigatus. Clove EO forneceu melhor atividade por redução de 6 log10 para exposição de 30-90 min em comparação com outros OEs, portanto, pré-selecionado para difusão e método de concentração inibitória mínima (MIC). Clove EO forneceu resultados promissores em comparação com fluconazol, anfotericina B, cetoconazol, nistatina e voriconazol, com ZOI médio (39,6 ± 6,34) melhor do que todos os outros antifúngicos comerciais (p < 0,001). A MIC média foi de 0,195 ± 0,11 µl/ml. O teste de segurança do EO produziu 74-82% de viabilidade celular para a faixa de 0,390 - 0,097 µl/ml em comparação com DMSO. Os resultados do presente estudo destacam que o EO de cravo pode ser fonte de um bom agente terapêutico para infecções de isolados multirresistentes de A. fumigatus.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: A significant problem that compels clinicians in the conventional treatment of hypoparathyroidism is patients’ non-adherence to treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of adequate Ca intake with dietary recommendations among hypoparathyroidism patients who persistently use Ca supplementation irregularly on plasma Ca and phosphate levels. METHODS: This prospective, randomized, controlled study was conducted on patients diagnosed with chronic hypoparathyroidism who persistently interrupt Ca supplementation therapy and therefore have a hypocalcemic course. Patients with a total daily Ca intake below 800 mg were randomized. All patients were advised to keep the doses of active vitamin D and Ca supplements they were currently using. The patients in the study group (n=32) were advised to consume 1,000–1,200 mg of Ca daily, and the patients in the control group (n=35) were advised to continue their diet according to their daily habits. After 12 weeks of follow-up, the patients’ laboratory values were compared between groups to assess treatment goals. RESULTS: The mean of the total Ca level was 8.56±0.36 mg/dL in the study group and was found to be significantly higher than that in the control group, which was 7.67±0.48 mg/dL (p<0.001). The mean serum phosphate and serum Ca-P product levels were significantly higher in the study group (p<0.001) but did not exceed the safe upper limits in any patient. CONCLUSION: A suitable increase in dietary Ca intake could effectively control hypocalcemia in patients with hypoparathyroidism who persistently interrupt the recommended calcium supplementation.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Wound dehiscence is associated with high morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to analyze the risk factors and comorbidities in the patients undergoing radical cystectomy with early postoperative wound dehiscence. METHODS: In all, 539 patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy and urinary diversion at a single center between January 2008 and January 2022 were included in the study. The data related to the demographics, medical history, and perioperative clinical features were reviewed. Univariate and multivariate regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors for wound dehiscence. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 64.2 years (22–91). The mean body mass index was 26.4 kg/m2 (18.7–35.4). Wound dehiscence was observed in 43 (7.9%) of 539 patients. The patients with wound dehiscence had significantly higher mean BMI (27.8 vs. 26.3, p=0.006), ASA scores (p=0.002), history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (30.2 vs. 14.3%, p=0.006), diabetes mellitus (44.2 vs. 17.9%, p=0.003), previous abdominal surgery (18.6 vs. 7.7%, p=0.014), and postoperative ileus (58.1 vs. 16.9%, p=0.006). In the multivariable regression model, diabetes mellitus (odds ratio [OR] 4.9, 95%CI 2.3–10.1; p<0.001), postoperative ileus (OR 8.1, 95%CI 4.1–16.5; p<0.001), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (OR 2.6, 95%CI 1.2–5.7; p=0.013) were independent predictors of abdominal wound dehiscence following radical cystectomy. CONCLUSION: Diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and postoperative ileus were strongly associated with abdominal wound dehiscence following radical cystectomy. Both potential preventive and therapeutic interventions may decrease the risk of wound dehiscence.

Abstract The devastating 1822 earthquake is one of the relatively recent events that struck northwestern Syria and the nearby areas of central-southern Turkey, at the junction of the Dead Sea fault system with the Eastern Anatolian fault system. This earthquake is re-examined, in this work, based on new original contemporary and near contemporary sources of information not cited in previous literature. Analysis of these sources reveals the following: (1) more detailed descriptions of the earthquake effects are provided for cities of Aleppo, Antakia and Latakia, and the identification of six new locations affected; (2) assessment of relevant earthquake parameters such as the epicenter, surface-wave, moment magnitudes and seismic intensity; (3) documentation of evidences of a seismic sea wave that occurred between the Cypriot and the Syrian coasts and (4) identification of the Saint Simeon fault, located to west of Aleppo, as the probable causative fault. Furthermore, the ground motion generated by the 1822 earthquake has been simulated using the extended stochastic simulation method. Acceleration time series and damped pseudo acceleration spectra were generated for Aleppo Citadel, where the peak ground acceleration, due to the earthquake, has been estimated at 0.4 g. The results will contribute to updating the seismic hazard setting in the northwestern Syria and central-southern Turkey.

Resumen El terremoto de 1822 fue devastador y se considera uno de los eventos relativamente recientes que azotaron el noroeste de Siria y las áreas cercanas del centro-sur de Turquía, es decir, en la unión del sistema de fallas del Mar Muerto con el sistema de fallas del este de Anatolia. En este trabajo, se vuelve a estudiar este terremoto, con base en nuevas fuentes de información originales contemporáneas y casi contemporáneas, que no habían sido citadas anteriormente. El análisis de estas fuentes revela lo siguiente: (1) se proporcionan descripciones más detalladas de los efectos del terremoto para las ciudades de Aleppo, Antakia y Latakia, y la identificación de seis nuevas ubicaciones afectadas; (2) evaluación de los parámetros pertinentes del terremoto, como el epicentro, la onda de superficie, las magnitudes de momento y la intensidad sísmica; (3) se muestra documentación de evidencias de una ola marina sísmica que ocurrió entre las costas chipriota y Siria, e (4) identificación de la falla de San Simeón, ubicada al oeste de Aleppo, como la probable falla causante. Además, el movimiento del suelo generado por el terremoto de 1822 ha sido simulado utilizando el método de estocástica extendida. Se generaron series temporales de aceleración y espectros de pseudoaceleración amortiguados para la ciudadela de Aleppo, donde la aceleración máxima del suelo, debido al terremoto, se estimó en 0.4 g. Los resultados contribuirán a actualizar la configuración de riesgo sísmico en el noroeste de Siria y el centro-sur de Turquía.

Abstract This paper presents a new approach for uncertainty determination of the electric field intensity and magnetic flux density calculation in the vicinity of overhead transmission lines. The proposed method is based on the law of propagation of uncertainty as defined in the Guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement. A mathematical model is developed for determining the electric field intensity and magnetic flux density calculation uncertainty based on the Charge simulation method and method based on Biot – Savart law, respectively. The verification of the proposed method was performed by estimating the uncertainty of the electric field and magnetic flux density calculations for four single circuit and two double circuit high-voltage overhead transmission lines. The analysis of the obtained results demonstrates that the proposed method can be successfully used to determine the uncertainty of electric field intensity and magnetic flux density calculations in the vicinity of overhead transmission lines.

Abstract Purpose This study aims to explain the effect of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) dimensions on firms’ export performance. The study has considered three dimensions of EO: innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking. Export performance has been measured through multifaceted determinants: financial, strategic and satisfaction levels of exporting firms. Design/methodology/approach To explain the association between such determinants, qualitative face-to-face, in-depth interviews were conducted with the respondents from the apparel manufacturing companies of Bangladesh. The study has also applied a content analysis technique to explore and triangulate the descriptions of EO dimensions on performance. Findings The research results reveal that EO has a meaningful explanation of export performance from the lived experience of the respondents. The study has also found frequent explanations and indicators about the association of innovativeness and proactiveness on export performance, but the risk-taking dimension has revealed no effects. Research limitations/implications The research has different implications on theoretical, managerial and policy-making aspects of EO and export performance. Nevertheless, the findings are based on the opinions of a small sample of entrepreneurs and high-level managers. Thus, it is important to test the generalizability of these findings in future research using a larger sample. Originality/value This study indicated product, process and market creation innovativeness. Risks related to product innovation, new market entry and politics are considered for risk-taking measures, while proactive innovation, technology and new market searching are used for measuring proactiveness. Additionally, multifaceted performance determinants have been applied to evaluate export performance. Hence, this study is a unique qualitative analysis with important theoretical, practical and methodological implications.
